Wind positions and low investment costs are critical for reaching a high level of profitability in wind power projects.
The concentration of the company’s project portfolio in southern Sweden provides a number of important advantages: strong wind positions in forest and coastal areas, access to a robust electricity grid, lower feed-in and transport costs, the possibility to build year-round, and fewer problems with ice and snow.By purchasing large volumes of wind turbines and raw materials costs are kept to a minimum. An efficient project oriented organisation enables Arise Windpower to constantly maintain a high level of concurrency in project development which lowers costs of obtaining permits and prospecting new parks. Taken as a whole, these factors lower costs and increase profitability as compared with building in other regions in Sweden.
The project portfolio currently includes 900 MW distributed among approximately 400 potential wind turbines with 139 MW in operation and an additional 102 MW under construction. The scope of the project portfolio is continuously expanding, as is the number of permits and current projects.
Arise Windpower’s expansion is industrial and large-scale.
This means that, among other things, Arise Windpower procures a substantial number of turbines, foundations and building contracts. This produces cost and competition advantages, and reduces the risk of bottle-necks. Arise Windpower works with the leading suppliers on the market and has, through these frame agreements, succeeded in preserving the prevailing advantageous price levels for many years to come. Our agreement with Scandem includes balance provider services for commissioned parks and runs through 2012. Our agreement with Sydsten runs through 2015.
Parallel projects are run simultaneously, ensuring a continuous, rapid expansion. Arise intends to have 700 MW in operation or under construction by 2014, with an estimated production of 2 TWh.
Status in the projects change continously. See the most current status reports here.
